I’m sure everyone is ready to reduce the layers of clothing weighing us down from the long winter; fret not, it’s time to bring in the summer flavours. We all know that the way we dress begins with our hair and this season is no exception. The high end designers play a big role in how the hair is conjoined with the clothing presented on the runway.
Joseph Alturazza Knows What Women Want
Altuzarra is a designer that I wanted to mention quickly; he has been proving himself quite often in recent years. One of Joseph Alturazza’s goals is to make the sophisticated modern women feel seductive, strong and confident. This description of his modern women is perfect for the low ponytail because it gives enough confidence to sweep across the boardroom as she walks in. The low pony is such a quick and easy style to perform, even from home, you will be able to master it in no time (if you haven’t been doing this already!) Comb all of your hair back towards the nape of your neck while not worrying about the wispy strands that will fall, this will aid in providing a youthful look to the low pony. Wiggle the pony from left to right before securing it at the nape to create a soft finish. Secure with a hair elastic and spray with Brilliante Glossing Spray from Kaaral. Its as simple as that!
The “Trend Cycle”
Trends tend to blossom every season for many different reasons. The inspiration for new trends can come from art, designer clothing, architecture, environmental movement, fashion week, celebrities and many more! I have my own philosophy on the “Trend Cycle”. I believe that the cycle begins from one of the outlets I’ve mentioned. Once someone with a great representation of style (editorial hairstylists, platform hairstylists, creative directors,..etc) proposes these trends through their work, people will start seeing them in the magazines and streets of larger european cities. There is quite a long process for these proposals to get across the pond to North america. If they do, it’s usually because a celebrity starts rocking a new style presented to them by their hairdresser/image consultant. The last part of the “Trend Cycle” involves the general public being exposed to any form of media or browsing through the magazines and deciding on a new style to take on. My favourite outlet to gather inspiration for use with clients is Pinterest.
Waves For Days
The aforementioned trends evolve from season to season. The natural ombre is still going strong and its decline is not foreseen anytime soon. Additionally, the long, lazy beach /wave is still quite popular going into SS14, although we do respectively think it has lasted a bit too long for its time and we hope to find the new, hot style very soon. As the waves continue, there are still impressions ready to be made with these waved designs:
