Makeup Tips for Every Holiday Party

Are you having trouble putting together an outfit for your holiday parties? Are you stressing yourself out trying to put your look together while keeping up with the trends of the season? Well look no further; here are some holiday makeup tips to get you through the season!

Tinsel to Glow

The first tip to send your way has to do with the use of shimmer. Shine yourself up to make it look like your glistening alongside the snow; much like tinsel it makes everything look that much more beautiful and glowing. Make sure you are hitting the three main areas when you swipe your powder: over your cheekbones, below your brow bone and on the inner corner of your eyes. Stay within the pnk-based highlighters if you have lighter skin and progress to golden tones if your skin is more medium to dark.

Secondly, blush is non-negotiable for every holiday party. This will add some much needed colour to your cheeks, which tend to dull with the paleness of winter. When picking a colour, make sure that you are mixing complementary blush colours; one darker and one lighter, to create the perfect shade that is all your own.

Thirdly, match your lips to your snacks this holiday season; chocolate is the go-to shade for creating a striking lip look. Avoid the guilt by wearing it on your lips and impress all of the guests with the darker hue- be bold, beautiful and classy, all at the same time. To take it one step further with your lips, pair your lipstick with a clear gloss to achieve another layer of shimmer.

Jazz it UP

Manicures are being shown in two different styles this year, allowing for a quick change in overall look. The first option is an atypical French manicure; instead of being barely there, jazz it up by doing greens, reds, silvers and golds. If you feel like getting really festive, use silver glitter to make the tip which offers an extra twinkle for the holidays. The second nail trend popping up for the holidays is burgundy nails. Although not a low-maintenance look, this dark hue offers a spark of instant drama.

Our last tip focuses on what you should do with your eyes this holiday season. Stylists are suggesting the infusion of flecks of gold, purple and green with a basic grey shadow. Not only will this tie your lips together with your eyes but it will also add some colour into your look. Contain the multi-textured part between the lid and the crease; you don’t want to add too much colour and end up looking like you belong in the 80s. If you find dark eyes to be too much, make sure to use your brush or a makeup sponge to soften the look. If you aren’t into wearing much eyeshadow and prefer to finish off your look with eyeliner, get rid of your pencil and sweep a black gel liner over the entirety of the top lid to create a bold yet elegant look. Finish off the look by sweeping a neutral tone over the rest of the lid.

Take these tips with you and embrace stunning all of the guests at every holiday party you attend this year.

Spice Up Your Holiday Traditions

Are you finding your holiday routine to be the same year after year?  If you’re looking to break out of your usual mode, here are some ideas for you!

Gift Wrapping

If you are the kind of person who dislikes wrapping gifts, turn it into a fun activity and have a Holiday Gift Wrap Party at the same time you partake in a holiday cookie swap. Get everyone to bring a different kind of holiday cookie as well as a different pattern of wrapping paper and enjoy the deliciousness while you are all wrapping gifts together; throw in a bottle of wine and you will have yourselves a party!

Pairing Ideas

For your party near the holidays, instead of doing the ‘same old, same old’ with food, make things interesting by serving a variety of different appetizers. Add some holiday flare to it by calling it “12 Days of Appetizers”; try to align the different appetizers with the different items sung about in the song. For example, for the “partridge in a pear tree”, place some crumbled blue cheese on top of a piece of baguette and bake until the cheese just starts to melt. Then top with a slice of pear that has been lightly coated in honey. Finally, finish with a sprinkle of thyme. Do this for the remaining 11 days mentioned in the song and you have yourself an easy way to use a traditional holiday idea and turn it into something brand new and exciting!

Power of Song

If you’re having people over anyway and are looking for something fun to do instead of just sitting around talking, use the power of song! Have holiday carols playing and print out some lyrics to the songs of your choice. Have everyone pick a song and have a Holiday Carol karaoke contest! Once everyone has had a turn, have everyone write down who they thought the best performer was (aside from themselves). Then have one person tally up the votes. Whoever gets the most votes is the winner. Have something small set aside for the winner. You can never go wrong with a gift certificate or a bottle of wine.
If you’re tired of having the same typical holiday parties, you will enjoy our final idea for how to spice up the season! Take your party outside of the home and grab your friends and partake in a pub crawl.

Make it festive by wearing holiday-inspired costumes in your trek from bar to bar. Or, dive into the spirit by wearing an ugly holiday sweater; turn it into the contest and have the person with the ugliest one not have to buy their drinks all night!

Use these tips to help get you in to the holiday spirit, and to make it a year to remember; one that is full of new ideas and food!

Jazz Up Your Party Hairstyle

If you’re finding yourself overwhelmed by all of the different hairstyles on social media this holiday season, then this blog is for you. We are going to be taking a look at the top hairstyles this year that are sure to jazz up any party outfit you may have.

If your usual hair routine is getting tired, our first tip allows for an easy change up to your hair.  You can change the entire look you’re putting together simply by changing your part! It will also bestow your hair with extra body, something that is always welcomed. Secondly, if you’re a person who doesn’t like to spend that long on their hair we have an easy solution for you! And who doesn’t enjoy when they are in the company of someone who spends little to no time on their hair? That being said, short hair is the solution for you! Most hairstyles that would typically be referred to as “boyish” now have feminine features that soften the look, such as pieces in and around the face. All you need to do to complete this style once you have the cut is to work some product through your hair with your fingers.

The next hair style that is very much in this season is the “old style” Hollywood hair. This entails retro waves that are loose but somewhat pulled to the side a well. This style works well with a little bit of product and with hair that has a day old style. If you’re looking to glam up your style this winter, accessorize your bob; pull it back and clip it with sparkly bobby pins. This will add a little bit of glitter to pair with the holiday style.

If you are most likely to want your hair up and out of your face you have a few options. You can use product to sleek it back with a very tight bun, using the product to ensure it holds in place. You can also try out an inverted ponytail; keep it low and add a braid to it to keep the hair tight to the head. This will allow your hair to stay put, back and out of your face. The next look we want to mention is a high-tied pretty ponytail. In order to achieve this look, tease the hair at the crown for extra volume before securing it about halfway down your head. You want to make sure that you are securing it extremely tight as well as at the highest point possible.  If you have become a guru for braids, add them to your holiday look to spice things up a tad; create a messy chic side braid, or a skinny fishtail braid. To create this look, pin the braid from ear to ear to make it look like you have a headband. Make sure that it is skinny enough though so it doesn’t make you look like a blockhead. Keeping with this headband idea the hairline braid is also gaining popularity. Make sure that you are parting the hair on the side to ensure the braid stays that way. Ensure that you push the elastic up at the bottom of the braid to open up the rest of it; this will allow your braid to look thick instead of too thin.

If you’re more apt to keep your hair down there are multiple styles out this year for you. If you do happen to leave it down, make sure you keep it looking soft and shiny to avoid getting the greasy look in pictures. For a night out on the town you care create effortless waves by applying a small amount of product right when you get out of the shower to make sure the waves stay crimped throughout the night. In keeping with the effortless waves, another simple yet elegant look is a sexy bed head look. To create this look, create very small movement rather than a deep curl. Keep it simple; the bigger the curl, the less of the bed head look you will have. With this look you want to make sure the hair stays loose and flows with the natural texture the hair already has.

An Autumn Runaway into the 90’s

Have you ever felt the need to escape sometimes? When we are in the same loop week to week and the previous week is a mirror vision of the upcoming 9-5 schedule that is waiting for you it might cross our minds to just escape society. This is where the heart of our style proposal stems from. Some people will leave on a trip or vacation, others might undertake an expedition into the wild or face their fears in order to reset the soul by doing something like sky diving or deep sea scuba diving. Any of these ideas involve a certain action plan that must be completed before a rest can happen. There are some ways to reset the soul that involve no plan of action and no itinerary. Our vision comes from teenagers that are seeking a new way of being and in turn creating the style proposal we have created.

With the help of photographer Vincenzo Cherubino we have created a 2015 autumn style collection which arises from an early 90’s grunge feel with a rebellious attitude. We worked along side fashion stylist Kassi Meslo to put the 90’s wardrobe together and she nailed it! The make-up was provided by the very talented Kelly Parker.  These three friends take the train down memory lane and express themselves in their own individual way. This is our way of exposing the spirit of our collection. Enjoy!

Fall Shoot B1
This scene screams 90’s! Our fashion stylist (Kassi Meslo) incorporated some props from the 90’s for some nostalgia. Brandon is wearing BMW original racing pants with a 90’s icon tee with a Moschino sparkle vest and Harry Rosen vintage tuxedo shoes.

Laura defenitly defines 90's grunge with a bad ass demeanor. Laura has some of the best natural curls I have ever worked with. I went with more of an "I don't care what my hair looks like" mood with the bandana. A touch of fuchsia in her curls just because these girls can get away with anything on the street.

Planning the Perfect Party

Are you planning the perfect party but have no idea where to begin? Look no further, here are some festive tips that will help you throw the party of your dreams!

Colour Your Party!

The first thing you want to decide on when planning a party is the color scheme you are going to be using. Silver and gold are often the go to colours for holiday decorations. This year, if you’re in an area that is lacking that “holiday feel” as there is no snow around, try using light frosted blues. Modern Holiday décor is all the rage this year as opposed to the traditional looking decorations you may have inherited from your parents. Keep all decorations aligned by using geometric shapes in bold black, crisp white and rich reds to create a party look your guests will be talking about for years! Accent everything holiday-like with these hues and you’ll have a masterpiece in your house!

Traditional ornaments are also being replaced with shimmery, in your face disco balls in order to achieve a dazzling look up close and from across the room. You want to make sure that your decorations are catching the eyes of your guests. It will give them a place to begin when talking about your party after the celebrations have ended!

Move over! We Hungry!

We will now move directly into food ideas so your guests don’t go hungry! The first festive snack that should catch the eye of your guests is a welcome cocktail with a holiday twist! Have the bartender whip up something that is green, red, or even something that aligns with your color scheme. He could even put a peppermint stick in the drink for a bit more a festive flair.
For those younger guests who may not be able to partake in the welcome cocktail, set up a hot chocolate bar! Have the alcoholic mix-ins on the side. That way you have a little something for the entire family! Add some coloured marshmallows to the table in order to give the kids a little something different while keeping with the tone of the evening.

Interactions

In keeping with the orb shape that your disco balls will create, another festive food idea is to “make your own” crystal orb filled with something fun. For example, you can fill one of the orbs with a small salad or a bite sized appetizer. The aforementioned ideas allow for the guest to interact. The display and the food while offering a relaxed “serve yourself” kind of vibe. This interaction will lead to a more enjoyable time overall for your guests. This will give off the illusion that they are picking exactly what they want; almost as though the party was being catered towards them.

Take-homes

In order to have something small and easy for your guests to take home with them, make some peppermint cake pops. It will be a sure fire way to have your party stand out.
Follow these tips and tricks and aim to have an outstanding time and your holiday party will be out of this world.
